Benjammin Zander

Benjamin Zander has been the conductor of the Boston Philharmonic since its formation in 1979.  In these years together, they have explored an enormous range of repertory - from Bach to specially-commissioned works, with an emphasis on late Romantic and early 20th century repertoire, especially the symphonies of Gustav Mahler.

For the past 35 years Zander has been a teacher at the New England Conservatory in Boston, and for over 30 years he has been the New England Conservatory Youth Philharmonic Orchestra’s conductor, with whom he has made 12 international tours. He is also artistic director of the music program at Walnut Hill, a boarding school specializing in training highly accomplished young performing artists.
